After my tennis wipe out on Monday I’m all messed up and out of order on my blog challenges. Maybe I hit my head too!
But, because it is Valentine’s Day I am certain that today’s scheduled challenge is to tell you about my significant other.
So, let me introduce you to my sweetie, Scott. #myhottiescottie
We have been together for almost 5 1/2 years and we met online. Yup, he was the best thing to come out of Match.com.
I had been on a few dates from Match, but was pretty discouraged overall – too many unwanted dick pics and painfully boring “dates” and too many offers to come over and get in the hot tub before even meeting face to face IRL. #uhnothanks
I had canceled my membership but I still had a couple of weeks in the billing cycle, so I remained “live” on the site. I think Scott and I showed up in each other’s “daily matches” and he winked at me. I checked out his profile and scrolled past.
Then I went back and looked again. #onsecondthought
I wondered how – in a relatively small town I had lived in my whole life – I had never bumped into him. How had he and I each worked and lived in the same town for over 35 years and had never seen each other?
To this day we wonder how we never crossed paths. We worked out at the same gym…but he started working out there just after I moved away.
He had actually seen a photo of me…that was used in an advertisement for another gym where I worked as a trainer.
We orbited in adjacent circles that never collided.
Until that night on Match when I winked back. Which led to messaging, which led to a phone call.
We met for coffee, it was a three-hour long date that ended because I had to pick my kids up from school. The main thing that stood out me from our first date was that he wasn’t my type.
And that I couldn’t wait to see him again.
Scott made me feel physically and emotionally safe – that was something very important to me at that time in my life.
Coffee led to dinner and more dates…
Honestly, we had an emotionally intense first six months – two of Scott’s friends were killed shortly after we met and then a few months after that, I donated a kidney to my sister. Scott didn’t leave my side while I was in the hospital and literally washed my back and helped me get out of bed as I recovered at his house. #whodoesthat
In the years since we have laughed and grown together – we have traveled to Hawaii, London, Paris, New York City, Las Vegas and spent many miles on his motorcycle exploring California cities and towns near and far.
I feel very fortunate to have such a willing partner in my life…and that he knows the true me…and still loves me! #notalwayseasy
Thankfully,
Ooh, he sounds amazing!!! You guys are a beautiful couple! 😍
